Introduction Thalassaemia In Hong Kong One out of eleven Chinese people in Hong Kong is a carrier of Thalassaemia genes. By joining the Jeans for Genes campaign as a Genie, you will help patients suffering from the commonest genetic blood disorder disease in our region - Thalassaemia. Who we are... Children's Thalassaemia Foundation (CTF or "the Foundation") is a non-profit, non-governmental, charitable organization. It was founded in 1993 by a group of medical professionals, patient's parents and charitable members of the community. Throughout the past ten years, the Foundation endeavored to help children born with Thalassaemia Major grow in a more healthy and happy environment. Our ultimate goal is to eradicate the disease in Hong Kong. What the funds you raise can do... Fund raised will be used 1) to carry out MEDICAL RESEARCH for the betterment of Thalassaemia patients, 2) to establish a permanent THALASSAEMIA EDUCATION AND COUNSELING UNIT to continue public awareness education and counseling services for patients, carriers and parents, and 3) to support PATIENT-CARE PROGRAMMES.
